Haitian-born physician Nicole Prudent moved to Massachusetts in the late-‘70s as part of her medical training. It was here Nicole discovered a great need among fellow Haitian immigrants who called Greater Boston ‘home.’ Dr. Prudent saw the disparities in health care, education and enrichment opportunities, and in the late ‘80s, co-founded with other Haitian American health professionals a nonprofit to address pressing public health issues confronting Boston’s Haitian community.
Then in 2003, Dr. Prudent collaborated again this time to create a new nonprofit aimed at serving Haitian youth and their families. With an eye on creating for youth pathways to leadership, Youth &Family Enrichment Services, Incorporated (YoFES) was born.
