Celebrating one’s culture goes to the heart of self-esteem for any community, and especially where it concerns its children. It’s one of the reasons YoFES produces each summer a signature showcase of Haiti culture it calls YoFestival. Produced in partnership with Boston’s Consulate General of Haiti and a host of other organizations, YoFestival celebrates all-things-Haiti for those who call Greater Boston ‘home.’
With an eye toward promoting the island republic’s history and culture, YoFestival features competitions in singing, creative writing, short essays and poetry, painting and drawing. It is an opportunity to pass the country’s glorious history and culture from one generation to the next.
The event also offers food and other delicacies signature to the country. The competitions are divided into three age categories: 8 to 12 and 13 to 18. For more information, please contact YoFES or visit our Facebook page.
